Camunda Modeler Indicates a New Version is Available
Camunda Modeler Indicates a New Version is Available Question: What should I do when I encounter the pop-up window titled 'A new version is available'? Answer: When you encounter the pop-up window titled "A new version is available," you will be presented with two choices: 'Skip this version' and 'Go to download page.' Please choose 'Skip this version'. Camunda, the software company, frequently releases new minor versions of their software, typically on a monthly basis (indicated by the "x" in version 5.x). Swinerton BTech will only approve upgrades when there is a viable reason to do so: either there is a showstopper bug that is fixed or there are new features released that will greatly improve the way you work. If there is an upgrade approved and available for you, Swinerton BTech will notify you, and it will be available in the Software Center for installation. To report a potential bug, please create a new ticket in the Swinerton Support Customer Portal. Our support team will validate the bug and check if it has already been addressed in a released but unapproved update. If not, we will log the bug with Camunda for resolution. Using the latest version of Camunda software is essential for accessing new features, improvements, and bug fixes. However, upgrading should be done responsibly and only when there is a compelling reason to do so. Swinerton BTech is committed to providing a seamless and efficient experience with Camunda software, and our support team is available to assist you with any questions or concerns about software upgrades.

Camunda Modeler Indicates My Process Model Has Problems
My Model Has Problems Question: Camunda Modeler shows that there are lots of "problems" with my process model. The toolbar at the bottom shows a red circle with an X and a count of problems. If I click on the red circle, it opens a Problems View panel and shows lots of information that I do not understand. What do I do to fix them? Answer: Good news! You don't need to do anything! Camunda Modeler allows you to build BPMN process models that can be deployed in a separate workflow engine to automate end-to-end processes. Since we are not using models in this way, the errors can be safely ignored.

How Do I Place Text on a Process Model in Camunda Modeler?
How Do I Place Text on a Model? Question: I understand that I can label elements within my process model, but I've seen others and it looks like I should be able to place a text box somewhere on the model. But I just can't figure it out. Answer: The only way to add text to a process model in Camunda Modeler is to label elements, or by using the Annotation element. By double clicking on an element, you can access the text editor and create labels. Note that some elements don't have designated areas for text (e.g. events, flows, gateways), so their labels appear next to them. You can customize the position of these labels by clicking and dragging the associated text box. By using your arrow keys, you can precisely adjust the position of the labels. Placing Text in Camunda Modeler Use the Arrow Keys to Precisely Adjust the Text Position

How Do I Save My Process Model as a PDF in Camunda Modeler?
Question: Not everyone I want to share a process model with has Camunda Modeler to open BPMN XML files. How can I save my process model as a PDF? Answer: Unfortunately, you cannot save a process model directly from Camunda Modeler as a PDF. Camunda Modeler supports exporting process models to three file formats: JPG, PNG, and SVG. To save to PDF, you will need to first export your process model as an image and then open it with a PDF Editor (e.g. Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu, PDF X-Change Editor).

What is a Token & Why Do I Need a Token Simulator in Camunda Modeler?
What is a Token & Why Do I Need a Token Simulator? Question: What is a token in BPMN? Answer: A token in BPMN is a theoretical concept used to visualize the behavior of a process being performed. It represents the current point of execution within a process instance. Think of a token as a virtual marker that moves from one activity to another, indicating which tasks or activities have been completed and which are yet to be executed. A business process can have multiple tokens, indicating that the process is running in multiple paths. Tokens are typically generated by start events and consumed by end events, and their paths can be traced through the sequence flows, gateways, and activities within a process. Question: What are the benefits of having a token simulator in my BPMN modeling tool? Answer: The token simulator plugin for Camunda Modeler is beneficial for several reasons: Visualize process execution: The token simulator allows you to see how the process will behave when it is executed, providing a visual representation of the process flow and helping to identify potential issues. Debug and validate process models: By simulating the movement of tokens through the process, you can identify deadlocks, detect paths where a token will never be consumed, and ensure that the process behaves as expected. Improve understanding of BPMN concepts: The token simulator can help less experienced BPMN practitioners and professionals to better understand the behavior of processes and the role of tokens in process execution. Facilitate collaboration: The token simulator can be used as a tool for discussing and sharing BPMN diagrams with your team, allowing everyone to understand the process flow and identify potential improvements.

Why Camunda Modeler Instead of Visio?
Why Camunda Modeler Instead of Visio (or Another Tool)? Question: Why has Swinerton decided to use Camunda Modeler for process models instead of some other tool (e.g. Visio, Lucidchart, etc.)? Answer: One of the key advantages of Camunda Modeler is its support for BPMN 2.0 XML, which enables easy import and exchange of process models with other Business Process Management Systems (BPMS). This compatability ensures that our process models can be imported and adapt to any future BPMS solutions that we may chose to adopt as both our process maturity and organization grow. Another significant factor is the focused nature of Camunda Modeler. Unlike general-purpose diagramming tools like Visio or Lucidchart, Camunda Modeler is specifically designed for creating process models. This focus approach eliminates unnecessary formatting, features, and shapes that can prolong the learning curve, confuse users, or lead to the inclusion of elements that are not relevant to the process modeling context. That said, our choice of Camunda Modeler does not replace Visio outright. Visio is still an excellent choice for producing organization charts, non-BPMN flowcharts (e.g. value stream maps, decision trees, cause and effect diagrams, etc.), network diagrams, UML diagrams, data flow diagrams, and more. Camanda Modeler just does one thing (and does it well): BPMN process models.
