How to Properly Restart / Reboot a Windows 11 Computer

Overview

  • Add this step to your regular laptop routine and see your performance increase!
    • Note: shutting down and starting up each day is not the same as a restart.
  • BTech recommends performing a restart at least once per week to maximize computer performance and longevity.
    • Not following this process can cause various issues to pop up and may significantly slow down your computer.
  • Please remember to save your work before restarting to avoid losing your data.


Steps to Perform

  1. Click Start (Windows logo) at the bottom left.

  2. Click Power button

  3. Click Restart

  4. Windows 11 will Restart.

  5. To verify that this process was successful, you can do the following:
    1. Right click the Taskbar

    2. Click Task Manager

    3. Select the Performance tab

    4. You will see your computer's Up time
      • If the restart was successful, this the uptime will now be reduced to just a few minutes.
