Objective
Microsoft has enabled a new feature in Microsoft Edge where it will display Microsoft Outlook in the right pane of the browser. According to Microsoft, this allows you to easily access, read, and reply to your Outlook email.
This only works if Microsoft Edge is set as your default browser in Outlook, and if Automatically open Outlook email context in the side pane, toggle, is enabled.
How to stop email from auto-opening in Microsoft Edge?
- Open Microsoft Edge
- Select the Gear icon at the bottom right of the sidebar.
- Under App and notification settings, select Outlook.
- Turn off the Automatically open Outlook email context in the side pane, toggle.
- Outlook will no longer appear in the right-pane of Microsoft Edge.
Can I enable/disable this feature when I want?
Yes, you can enable/disable Outlook displaying in the right pane as you wish.
- Open Microsoft Edge
- Select the Outlook icon from the upper-right sidebar to add, or remove, Outlook.
